Access to professional smart home brands
Lutron RA3, HomeWorks, and RTI are just a few of the brands that require an authorized dealer to purchase. I am one, so you can buy them from me and install them yourself. Equipment ships direct to you, and because there is no warehouse, showroom, or install crew behind me, none of that overhead is carried in the hardware. ELK is available through distribution, so dealer status there buys you better pricing, direct manufacturer support, and warranty standing rather than access itself.
Buying through a dealer also protects the warranty. Both Lutron and RTI restrict coverage to product bought through authorized channels, and RTI states that anything sold through online retailers gets no warranty and no support at all. Alarm Relay is a monitoring service rather than a product line. I run Lutron, RTI, ELK, and Alarm Relay in my own house.
RA3 and HomeWorks are dealer only, and I am an authorized dealer, so you can actually buy them. Interior motorized shades come from the same line, which means they run on the same processor and keypads as the lights rather than as a second system. More usefully, I run RA3 throughout my own house, so the load schedules, keypad engraving, and scene logic I design for you are the same decisions I have already made and lived with. I handle the programming remotely and hand you the file. Buying through a dealer also keeps the warranty intact: Lutron reserves the right to reject warranty claims on units bought from unauthorized sellers, and excludes auction sites and second hand purchases from its commercial warranty entirely.
RTI is dealer only for both purchase and programming software, which is exactly why most people never get to use it. I design the interface around how your family actually operates the house rather than around the equipment list, then load and revise it remotely. My own system runs on an XP series processor. RTI is blunter than most about the grey market: anything sold through online retailers carries no warranty and no service or support, and the factory warranty does not transfer, so a used unit off an auction site has none either.
ELK is available through distribution, so dealer status here means better pricing, direct manufacturer support, and warranty standing rather than exclusive access. The value I add is integration: zone logic, arming behavior, and getting an M1 to talk properly to Lutron and to RTI so security is part of the system instead of a separate box.
A monitoring service rather than a product line, and a preferred partner. UL certified 24/7 monitoring at a fraction of what traditional alarm companies charge, with no long contract. I handle the integration planning so your DIY installed panel reports correctly and you keep control of alarms, locks, and lights.
A music server and matrix amplifier in your own rack rather than someone else's service, with nothing to subscribe to. Every room becomes an AirPlay and Spotify Connect target, stream counts can be raised later in the field, and integration with RTI and Lutron is built in, so a Pico or a keypad runs music the same way it runs lights. I size the zones and amplification against the rooms and the speakers, then program it with the rest of the system.
Screen material, gain, and size get chosen against your projector and your throw distance rather than picked off a shelf. I specify the screen as part of the theater layout, so image size, seating distance, and speaker positions are all settled in the same drawing.
Acoustic panels and diffusers specified against the room rather than scattered across it, in sizes and fabrics that look like part of the wall. First reflection points, rear wall treatment, and bass management get worked out in the layout, and the panels can be backlit so the treatment doubles as the lighting design.
My exterior line, built to size rather than ordered off a size chart. Zip track patio shades that hold their fabric in side channels so wind cannot lift it, solar mesh where the view matters, blackout where it does not, and skylight or tension shades for the openings nobody else wants to quote. The motors take the same control wiring and scheduling as the lighting, so the shades answer keypads and sun angle instead of their own remote.
Low voltage brass and copper fixtures built to stay outside, in lines that run from budget conscious up to a lifetime rated flagship. I plan the layout, aiming, transformer sizing, and hub locations so fixtures can be added or moved later without re-trenching, then tie the zones into the control system for astronomic scheduling.
Switching, VLANs, and wireless coverage designed so control traffic, streaming, and cameras can share a house without fighting each other. Protect records to an NVR on site with no monthly fee, which is why it is my default camera line. Sourceable through Wave.
Plus most major AV, networking, and security lines through distribution — ask about anything specific.
